General overview

UnoTelly is based in Canada and was launched in 2011. The company provides both SmartDNS and VPN services and its main priority is to unblock geographically restricted content. UnoDNS gives you access to geo-blocked websites, while UnoVPN masks your IP address.

Unfortunately, UnoVPN is only available when choosing the Gold plan (UnoDNS + UnoVPN), as it does not have a plan of its own. Also, Canada is part of the Five Eyes group, which consists of New Zealand, Australia, Canada, US and the UK. The Five Eyes group was established so that the five countries could gather, share and analyze all kinds of intelligence.

Overview - conclusion
UnoTelly is a VPN provider that is based in Canada and provides SmartDNS and VPN services.
Privacy
6.7

UnoVPN uses two protocols: PPTP and OpenVPN. The PPTP protocol uses MPPE 128-bit encryption, while OpenVPN uses BF-CBC 128-bit encryption. BF-CBC is short for Blowfish and while it is considered fast and secure, it is weaker than the widely used AES encryption.

UnoVPN keeps connection logs (connection and disconnection time as well the amount of bandwidth used), but user online activity is not tracked.

Privacy - highlights
  • SmartDNS included
  • Connection logs
  • Weak protocol
Privacy - Conclusions
Unfortunately, UnoVPN keeps connection logs, has a weak encryption and offers only two protocols.
Features
5

UnoVPN supports a smart DNS service developed by UnoTelly. The service supports two protocols: PPTP with servers in Germany and Canada, as well as OpenVPN with servers in the UK and US. It is clearly stated in the knowledge base that P2P and torrenting are strictly prohibited while using UnoVPN. Any users using P2P or torrenting will have their services terminated without the ability to get a refund. This might be a big drawback to users who use VPN services heavily to share and download files. On the other hand, simultaneous connections are not restricted at all - you can use as many devices as you want. No other VPN provider offers unlimited simultaneous connections, so users in need of wide device coverage should be satisfied.

UnoVPN also has a Parental Control feature, which lets you control access to websites,as well as an integrated UnoProtector blocks ads and malware. UnoTelly in general helps to avoid DNS leaks. Most of these features are integrated into the DNS plan, but they are all available to you as you can get UnoVPN by only getting the Gold plan. The UnoVPN’s speeds were quite mediocre, varying from low to average. The server speed depended on to which server you were connected to, as more distant country server locations were slower.

Features - highlights
  • Integrated ad and malware blocker
  • Unlimited simultaneous connections
  • P2P/Torrenting is prohibited
Features - Conclusions
UnoVPN does not allow P2P/Torernting activity, but offers an unlimited number of simultaneous connections.
Apps
5.4

Both UnoDNS and UnoVPN support a very big number of devices. They support Windows, Linux, Max OSX, various Android and iOs devices, smart TVs, game consoles and more. UnoTelly has an extensive list of supported devices on their website, so you can always check if your devices are covered. It’s great that so many devices are supported, especially knowing that all of them can be used simultaneously.

Also, UnoTelly’s knowledge base is filled with articles on how to configure UnoVPN on said devices, so there shouldn’t be a problem with setting everything up.

Apps - highlights
  • An extensive supported device list
Apps - Conclusions

Support
7.1

UnoTelly has a variety of support options - there’s a knowledge base, a forum, a FAQ page, an email ticket system as well as a 24/7 live chat. The Knowledge base is full of articles and there are also setup guides as well as troubleshooting. The FAQ page covers the most basic questions the users might have. Probably the least used is the forum, which only has one thread. The live chat is a good addition and even though sometimes the support team might not answer right away, you can still leave a message that will be answered later.
